From the Desk of Doctor Paul ..."Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him." Psalm 34:8
"Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited (approved) by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know." Acts 2:22
"The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders among the people." Acts 5:12
"I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed (preached) this gospel of Christ." Romans 15:18-19
"Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will even do greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." John 14:11-12
After receiving the foreword, composed by a dear Brother and friend for my fifth book, the Holy Spirit directed me to share the segment early. Each sentence is rich with experience, revelation and encouragement. Its content is from the heart of a man who intimately knows Dad. Charlie Slagle, a best selling author, has tremendously ministered to this writer, particularly during those "difficult" days when no one seemed to understand or care, and nothing would suffice, but a word from the Great Lover of souls. In fact, Charlie conduited much of what has promoted a new walk with the One Who loves me best. Enjoy!
"When Dr. Gervais asked me to write the foreword for his book, I esteemed it
a real honor. Paul's rich understanding of God, along with His pure love, has
lavished Heaven's healing balm on many human hearts, including my own. The
deepest passion of this writer, a true prophet/apostle/evangelist, is that
those whom God appoints him to touch, will connect with their Creator's
life-transforming Presence and love. They will not just know about His
attributes, but personally experience them on a daily basis, which remains my
deepest passion, as well. No doubt, Brother Paul discerned that about me, and
therefore invited some of my thoughts for his fifth book, a valuable labor of
love in itself. Yet, in committing to such an undertaking, I wrestle with an
overwhelming sense of inadequacy. What can be said on my part that will
encourage you, the reader, in your own journey with God? In other words, what
can I say that the author of 'Golden Nuggets' has not already said, and far
better than I could ever express? There is one fact known for certain about
God. He loves honesty. It simply will not do to play games with Him. He won't
tolerate any attempt at deceit, especially when we seek to communicate with
the Throne Room. The Father doesn't accept any effort to sound 'nice' or even
'reverent,' when in fact, our hearts are breaking. Truly, this is one thing I
have learned about Him. He loves us tenderly, passionately, inexorably.
Therefore, the Lord scorns nice-sounding spiritual platitudes and contrived
cliches that are nothing more than whitewashed tombs filled with dead men's
bones. Dad yearns for our hearts, not merely words. So, it is futility to try
hiding from Him. The Good Father will not allow that kind of self-abuse to
continue, even if it means that He has to do something that makes us so
furious, we have to explode. The Lord is determined for the Believer to be
real. There resides that childlike quality in our Creator that prefers
reality, however gross or gruesome, over artificiality, however lovely
looking and polished it may appear to be. And I'll have to admit, I have
often found this quality in Him very frustrating. How is that? To be honest,
I've not always wanted to open up and let my 'dark side' hang out. Can you
relate? No, for some goofy reason, I have falsely imagined that if only I
could maintain an appearance of victory, if only I could keep parroting the
words that I thought He enjoyed hearing, in so doing, I anticipated Charlie
might possibly control God. Okay! There! I've said it. Admitting that puts a
lump in my throat, but sooner or later, the truth must come out. However, the
reader should be advised that I have been cruelly programmed. Oh yes, for the
first five decades of life, my mind was religiously conditioned to believe
something totally irrational, poisonous to sanity and well-being, and utterly
destructive in the nurturing of authentic faith within the heart. To put it
bluntly, I was taught to believe the lie of conditional love. In other words,
Charlie Slagle was brainwashed to perceive that in the end, God would prove
to be only as reliable as I am! A mind-shattering concept, isn't it? But I
actually labored under that religious illusion, sincerely believing that the
Almighty would prove Himself trustworthy toward me, only if I managed to make
wise and timely choices, so as to prove myself trustworthy to Him. And what
if I were to die in a position of appearing unreliable toward the Lord?
Religiosity's answer was straightforward and simple. God would also cease to
be reliable toward me. He would abandon me, forever. Oh yes, in my earliest
childhood, this toxic error about our Heavenly Father was implanted within,
and thereafter, cultivated constantly. So in practical terms, how did that
destructive lie 'translate' in my mind? What was the real message that grew
to become a monster, nearly devouring my sanity? Brace yourself! For here it
is...'You can count on God, if He can count on you.' Or, to put it another
way, the bottom line perception that governed my life was, 'In the end, the
Lord will prove to be only as reliable as you are.' Heaven have mercy, that
grim gospel is hardly good news. Actually, for all practical purposes, it is
atheism disguised in spiritual-sounding semantics. For if the Source of Life,
Himself, proves to be only as reliable as we frail and unpredictable human
beings, then hope is a meaningless word. Even to suggest that the Father's
reliability is merely equal to ours, is to declare that, at the end of the
day, we are all there is of 'God,' which is but another way of saying there
is no God. Pure and simple, it is an assertion of atheism. Of course, Dr.
Gervais blessedly explodes the lie of conditional love, as you will discover
while savoring the wonderful contents of 'Golden Nuggets.' Herein you will
constantly encounter the God Who is Holy Love Personified, and always
reliable, and always greater than our weaknesses! I can assure you that
anyone hoping to find in these pages the so-called glad tidings of 'Bottom
line, it's up to you!' will be disappointed. He so loved us first! I regret
to say that a message of performance is still being proclaimed in many
religious realms. And how well I know that it can sound very wise, and even
spiritual. But this false and beggarly concept of how our Creator relates to
us actually fosters distrust of Him. That is because it pulverizes our hope
by requiring that we trust primarily in self and our own wisdom. It is on
this account, because the Body of Christ and world desperately yearn for
hope, that I'm delighted to say that Dr. Gervais is announcing wonderful
news! In fact, the words you will find on these pages are the very opposite
of religion's tiresome and hopeless tidings. In essence, the message that
flows forth from this man is...YOU CAN TRUST HIM BECAUSE GOD IS UNFAILING,
INFINITE LOVE, AND IN CONTROL! Yes, that message comes across faithfully,
with the ringing clarity of a Heavenly trumpeteer. And this is especially
good news to us wounded Warriors who are painfully aware of our weaknesses.
The Apostle Paul makes mention of faith's obedience in the opening words of
his famous letter to the Roman Christians. Additionally, he also tells us
that 'faith works by love.' So what is he talking about? Paul is simply
relating that love is what causes our faith to work. In short, Infinite Love
Himself, in action, is the Energizing Force, so to speak, that fosters trust
in our hearts. Before we can trust or 'believe' God and the Word, we must
experience His unconditional love and faithfulness. In fact, it is grace,
along with strength-imparting kindness working tirelessly in our lives, that
leads us to healing-repentance (supernatural turnaround) and transformation
(Romans 2:4). Yes, it's true that we are saved and delivered by faith. That I
know through experience, and therefore cannot deny. Even so, we must also
remember that faith does not originate from ourselves; it, too, is God's
gift, springing up in hearts as a direct result of the loving labors of the
Good Shepherd, Who is said to be the Author and Finisher of faith. So then,
faith toward the Creator awakens in hearts, because His tangible love has
cultivated and won the Children's trust. Any 'faith,' therefore, that is not
rooted and grounded in God's actual affection, and the Christian's literal
experience of that love, is illusionary. Meditate on Ephesians 3:14-21. Such
self-cultivated positivism may demonstrate a person's sincere effort to
exercise faith and reflect a sincere attempt to cast off negative thinking,
while adopting a positive mindset. I will wager that there is nothing wrong
with either endeavor, in or of themselves. However, neither of these
well-intentioned and praiseworthy efforts is faith. Exercising trust in God
and rising above clouds of negativity to assume a positive outlook are
actually the fruit of faith, not the cause of it. To put it more clearly, we
can believe the Father only because He has made Himself believable to us.
Faith in our Dad does not come by trying to manufacture optimistic feelings
with willpower and gritted teeth. Nor does it arrive, via formulas, although
inspired strategies for addressing various challenges will emerge from the
faith that God awakens in our hearts by His ongoing deeds of love. Why is all
of this being shared? I yearn, along with the anointed author of 'Golden
Nuggets,' that you'll not approach its wonderful teachings as a simple
compilation of formulas to be mechanically applied. In other words, we pray
that no one will entertain them with a religious and controlling spirit. The
teaching of this book is an altogether different message from that. What
'Golden Nuggets' is about, from start to finish, is intimacy with God,
abiding in His healing Presence until He reveals Himself to our deepest
being. I realize that some who are reading these words doubtless will find it
deeply shocking that such a negative belief structure earlier oppressed my
mind for so many years. I can appreciate that. After all, I have met a few
wonderful people who have been gently nurtured, from day one, with a most
wholesome understanding of God and His character. But such is not the case
with everyone. In fact, I will venture to say, it is not the case with the
majority of people. So I am persuaded that Paul's book is vital in this
generation because its anointed contents generate a thirst for Dad, revealing
His true character and Power with striking simplicity and astonishing beauty,
whereas religious traditions, passed down over many centuries, too often have
clouded, if not altogether obscured God's essential nature. Again, these
pages reveal the Glory of His Person with refreshing clarity. They also set
forth the true glad tidings of Jesus Christ with heart-liberating simplicity.
However, since Dr. Gervais, by the Spirit, has already done this so well,
there is no need that I elaborate on them here. Instead, I will urge that
while meditating on the enclosed nuggets of inspiration and truth, you
prayerfully read them, asking our Father to open widely the eyes of your
spirit. He so yearns to reveal His heart! You will discover, again and again,
that God not only loves you, He likes you! He wants you to cast all of your
problems on Him, because He cares, deeply cares about you."

Pondering upcoming jaunts of Glory to Missouri and Texas, I sense a crucial theme rising in my spirit. Imagine walking into a restaurant, being seated and given a menu without any further service or food. How long might you remain at that table? Most of us would venture to another eatery. Appetites have a tendency to rule!
In simple terms, many, even in the Church, are spiritually unserved and malnourished, lacking vision and hope, without really being aware of that fact. People are so starved for truth and reality in these marvelous days of outpouring, they will literally do anything to alleviate their hunger. Consequently, some are eating out of garbage cans, connecting with psychic hotlines in a quest to call Home, escape from a victimizing, stressful world and realize destiny.
How often do we judge those individuals and blame their choices on the enemy, when, in fact, the Church hasn't always adequately done Her job in fully preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ through the miraculous...signs, wonders and miracles. Think about this! Satan is gaining the world's attention through the counterfeit, while you and I seek and possess the "real thing," God's remedy for all. It's time to share and freely give.
Let's look at the issue from another angle. Is humanity to be harshly condemned for ingesting that which might be deemed poisonous, simply because those possessing the means and ability to feed them remain complacent and uncaring? Satan is offering that counterfeit, since the truth isn't in him, while men, women and children open mouths widely to fill that proverbial void with anything capable of alleviating pain. Wouldn't the creative (real) be more lasting and satisfying? Counterfeit is only embraced when a mindset determines first class is not possible. Confusion then replaces Covenant.
You and I have been called to love and serve, set at liberty all who have been bruised by the evil one. There are so many ways of preaching the Gospel. Just as Jesus was approved of God, via the miraculous, such is to be the case as His Army ventures forth with the Good News. And the One doing the leading knows precisely how to reach this world, while wooing and embracing the previously unreachable and unhealable.
The Master continues to be an excellent role model. How did He draw and impact people? Fully preaching the Gospel, promoting forgiveness, healing the sick, casting out devils, raising the dead, multiplying loaves and fishes (provision), turning water to wine and suspending the very laws of nature, when necessary, were what Jesus did to turn this world upside down with the Glory. The Savior didn't merely present an empty, worthless menu, but fulfilled the words on each page of that Book from Outer Space, another dimension...the unseen, becoming Flesh of the Promise, permitting individuals to handle Him and His works. As He is, we have become in this world!
In dysfunctional families there is only one correct way to perform and behave. Healthy systems promote diversity and recognize individuality. We are bone of each other's bone, and flesh of His flesh, reaching a level where there is an understanding of, and empathy for what various Members of the Body are experiencing, the epitome of sensitivity, a preferring of one another, not being pleasers of men and self...the flesh, but losing our lives in Christ, proceeding ahead, from Glory to Glory by the Spirit.
"Think it not strange concerning the fiery trial of your faith, Precious
Child. For in due season you will reap! And My Spirit, the faithful Standby,
is present to promote vision and destiny, while aborting Satan's fainting
process and plan. Ponder these facts. Without resistance, a plane cannot fly.
Neither would a boat be able to float! Resistance maintains balance, promotes
physical, emotional and spiritual fortitude. The law of gravity is also like
that, you know. Without it, chaos would immediately result. What race is
successfully run without competition and opposition? With Covenant backing
every move, all to which that hand is placed must prosper. How can failure be
a possibility? Look at those chosen by Me to perform inexplicable exploits in
the Book. Neither were they golden nor silver vessels, but yielded Conduits
of obedience and vision. Back then, opposition was commonplace, as it is
today. But did that stop them? Absolutely not! They used it to demonstrate
and establish the Father's will. Beloved, hear these certain words of
prophecy. To the extent you have been tried, opposed and persecuted,
anticipate strength, promotion, revelation, might, Power and Unction in those
exact regions. Run the race with total confidence. Return to your certain
(original) call! I haven't changed My Mind. Sin cannot stop Us, once a
midcourse correction has been achieved. That comfort zone is deceptive.
Haven't you noticed there are no challenge, joy, peace and supernatural
there? In fact, it's rather boring! Just as a jet rides and reigns on those
high places, using resistance to benefit its journey, such is to be the case
with Heaven's Children. Remain in that race! Never forget, victory is getting
up one more time than being knocked down. Persistence and maintaining a
single eye on the Throne will invariably produce the same results enjoyed by
the Sent One. Judas began, but quit, as did so many others. Each was deceived
by the master of illusion who uses the cares of this world and deceitfulness
of riches in aborting destiny. Many are called, but few choose to go. I
personally have witnessed an increasing of those strands (muscles), their
size and potential. Within the Body of Christ, a fiber has been instilled
that will not be intimidated by any sickbed or open casket. Prepare for a
name and identity change! Your credentials have been delivered. Read and
carry them! As with Paul, enticing words of men's wisdom won't cut it. But
the Kids will go forth with Power, authority and a demonstration of the
Spirit. Show and tell time has arrived!"
