Glory's Countenance...Heaven's Express Image!

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me, and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:5

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Even as a small child, I had a strong desire to discover a photo of the Savior and familiarize myself with His physical appearance. "What does He really look like? I must know!" For some reason, I needed to experience a Jesus of flesh and blood. Over a short period of time, a conclusion was reached, through the assistance of my parents and others who knew Him, that cameras and recording equipment didn't exist back then. Consequently, there could be no exact physical depictions. So, in essence, artwork and statues were all this author had to acquaint himself with the One Who fully paid sin's debt by surrendering all for our redemption. In my mind, this absence of a material portrayal left Paul Gervais yearning for more. Simply stated, I wanted to know this world's Redeemer and His Sender!

At twelve, while attending my grandmother's funeral at a small Baptist Church, a strong desire invaded my soul that day. At this point, I recognize the Source of a young boy's determination. It's amazing how God can move on an individual and sustain a desire that will ultimately lead to destiny, perhaps the salvation and healing of multitudes. More than anything else, including securing a bike or some other material object, I wanted a Bible. Prior to that encounter with the Holy Spirit, the Book was respected, but not actively sought after.

I had a favorite Aunt on my mother's side, back then. She attended that funeral service and sat near me. Arlene could always be successfully prevailed upon to facilitate her nephew's desires. The woman loved me so much and didn't hesitate to drop all, while accomplicing herself in the commission of a little boy's intent...good, bad or indifferent. She consented to do all that wasn't illegal. This kid could do no wrong in Arlene's eyes. That day, I used her lovingly biased mindset for a wonderful purpose...to purchase and own a Bible...King James Version!

The family gathered for a luncheon directly after the service. Shortly following that, Arlene and I headed for the city, in search of the Word. I can't remember the exact store where the "big purchase" was made, except this marvelous aunt paid for the goods. Little did she know that her investment in me would be the Throne Room's "beginning" for a confused, hurting adolescent. A ministry was truly in the works. Most importantly, God had intimacy in mind, a relationship that would supercede human imagination. Life was never the same since that monumental day. Heaven had to be rejoicing!

You see, the Holy Spirit was actually calling me to a saving knowledge of Christ, in meticulous preparation for an international ministry. Additionally, infused within my heart was a comprehension of humanity's insatiable hunger for "more"...the real, tangible and palpable, that which would ultimately be shared with all nations.

Neither Aunt Arlene, nor I, was aware of the true significance of that seemingly miniscule beginning. Today, she is with the Lord, among Heaven's great Cloud of Witnesses, who are cheering on the Bride, Nephew Paul included, in a era when the Glory of God is in a perpetual, as well as an exponentially unstoppable process of infusing this world with Love, Light and Life...signs, wonders and miracles...salvation to the uttermost for multitudes. Once more, there's no revelatory doubt at all. Arlene sincerely gained a phenomenally eternal award that day...from a Baptist funeral to the genesis of a prophetic signs and wonders outreach.

Well, directly after our acquisition, I eagerly thumbed through that Bible, reading some of the stories, a few Psalms and Proverbs, the Gospel of John. Most of its content was beyond an adolescent's comprehension. The Holy Sprit would be my Teacher in the days ahead. That black, zippered Book occupied a special place near this child's side each night. In seasons of confusion and conflict, I held it tightly, readily appropriating comfort from another Dimension!

Let's return to that longing for "more" of Him, an insatiable quest for vision and Covenant's fullness. Obviously, there were no photographs, aside from those "Living Epistles" in life...consecrated people, including Arlene and a few others He had positioned in a predestined place and time. Jesus, with flesh on, was indeed all around me, as Heaven used the available and surrendered to feed this malnourished spirit. I sought and found, as promised in the Word.

At our Maine Clinic, I often treat those who are challenged with diverse eating disorders, including an associated cousin, dysmorphia...distorted body image, an inability to accurately and fairly perceive self without prejudice and a negatively, internally reinforced predisposition. With some, appearance is paramount. Nothing matters more in their lives. Non-existent, impossible perfection rules each day, along with an intense desire to be flawless.

A major counter to that all-consuming obsession is this fact, which also addresses any quest for a tangible snapshot of Jesus. If the Lord were interested in portraying His precise physical image, He would have invented cameras two-thousand years ago, and incorporated a digital print of the Son on the front cover of every Bible. But, He didn't!

What does that say to us? No man comes to the Father, unless the Spirit draws Him. It is more blessed to believe without seeing, since all within reach of man's senses begins in the unseen, invisible realm. Through the establishment of this principle, God was preparing us to walk by faith, and not by sight. Thus, faith dominates, as dreams and visions become the Christian's new language and the personal cognition of Glory's blueprint. You and I are consequently positioned to walk not by sight, while calling those things which be not as though they were, until each becomes. The sensory limits, where Heaven's revelatory progressively and promotionally unfolds, invigorates, motivates and illustrates. A righteous (right standing) man's steps are established by the Lord, taking him light years beyond that proverbial "learning curve" into limitless wisdom, knowledge and understanding. For those concerned about their physical appearance, don't be! He isn't. Your identity, effectiveness and health are from the inside out.

The human mind and body cannot know Dad. Neither are they able to embrace and dispense Trinity's totality. Only the spirit of man, Glory's candle, is capable of hearing the Commander's still, small Voice.

The Mirror!

"As I Am, you have become in this world...Joint-Heirs, bone of Glory's bone, flesh of His flesh. Jesus was, and is, the Express Image of a loving Heavenly Father, a Sender with increasingly more remedy than hell has pain. Just as the Savior exclaimed, 'I do (the works) what is perceived in the Almighty's Presence!,' the Bride has also been commissioned, positioned and dispatched into a world, hungering and thirsting after righteousness, for purposes of expression and manifestation...displaying the works by fully preaching the Gospel via greater impact and exploits. Look into Glory's Supernatural Word! Therein lie your identity and job description for the moment and days to come. 'Who, what, why and where am I?' Those concerns, the answer that points Destiny's Child in a direction of certainty, full sufficiency in everything pertaining to life and godliness, are perhaps the most significant query that could ever be posed, since that inward stirring leads to the richest of revelations and unlimited Power. Is it not written, 'Before you call, I shall answer?' The Holy One of Israel is surely working in the Church, both to will and do of His good pleasure. While in the Word, a shining reflection will lead the Seeker to the depths of each respective call. You have not been commissioned to walk by sight or be moved by that which titillates the sensory. Remember this, Empowered Agent. Heaven's prophetic and revelatory, via the Book, will forever be the foundation of your destiny, undergirding every utterance and step, Glory's plumbline of mid-course corrections and confirmation of direction. Contemplate that old saying, 'If not written down, it doesn't exist!' The Word...the written, has become flesh, has dwelt, and will continue to dwell, among men, women and children, depicting a Model of identity and behavior, Covenant, conviction and call. The Creator's likeness was well presented in and through the Son, Who dispatched the Holy Spirit to reside within the Family. He, too, both sends and accompanies His Army, making crooked places straight, confirming the Word by way of the unprecedented, unparalleled and unpredictable, an Open Heaven. As you speak forth the Oracles of God, the Standby will further rent, as He did in the Temple's Holy of Holies, that thin membrane separating Heaven and earth. In direct answer to the Savior's prayer, My will must be fully instituted in each nation, all lands, precisely as it is sustained in Heaven. Never has there been such a vital era in Church history than the one in which Glory's Army has Her being today. Prophetically, this is that long-awaited hour of taking the enemy's spoils, undoing hell's endeavors, presenting a Risen Christ with a very specific theme...Resurrection! So shall it be. No prophetic pronouncement from Me is void of the Life necessary for bringing itself to pass. Before returning for the Beloved, I shall be known as the One Who has the final word. All to be said and done is in the Book. 'Acts' is where the Bride stands at this hour. What's written therein will be perpetuated and further demonstrated. I agree with the world concerning this. 'There has been too much talk and not enough action!'"
