Fellowship Of Sufferings!

"For since He Whom God has sent speaks the words of God...God does not give Him His Spirit sparingly or by measure, but boundless is the gift God makes of His Spirit!" John 3:34

"Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies." Psalm 36:5

"I will sing of the Lord's great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations." Psalm 89:1

"The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it." 1 Thessalonians 5:24

I often wonder what life and ministry were actually like for Jesus, as He fulfilled the Father's call and will, two-thousand years ago. Without question, our Savior was marching to the beat of a different Drummer, a Voice not well known to carnal man. Never did He depart from the Throne Room's will and connectiveness. Being without sin, as the Word made flesh, God's every thought became Christ's next command, while Heaven's Representative went about doing good and healing all oppressed of the enemy.

Of significance in my spirit is that segment of time when Heaven's Sacrifice contemplated His future...the cross, in Gethsemane's Garden. Beyond crucifixion, since many had walked that road as a direct consequence of breaking traditional and religious laws, Jesus was clearly reflecting on His soon-to-be experienced unprecedented encounter, one involving the assimilation of every sin, sickness, all poverty, the chastisement of humanity's peace and associated negativity, past, present and future. We're not talking about a toothache or migraine here, but every pang of suffering and pain imaginable.

The Sent One knew what He was in for. Intriguingly, Jesus was in full control. No man could possibly take His life. When walking in Covenant, neither can anyone take ours without the Father's permission. He had made a decision to lay it down for a people who, in themselves, deserved nothing short of hell. Yet, God's unconditional love overrode all of that, since the Lord ultimately chose the precise moment to give up the ghost.

Earlier this week, the Holy Spirit clearly spoke to me about the loneliness Christ faced through His obedience. In essence, He had asked the disciples, none of whom possessed the indwelling Revelator, to remain awake with Him, "Hold My hand," if you will, limiting the request to an hour. Our wonderful Redeemer, fully cognizant of the fact that the twelve couldn't possibly comprehend the cross and all represented therein, was asking that bunch to open their eyes and enter into the fellowship of His sufferings, just to be there for Him during the most trying day of the Master's life. They, like many of us, selected to posture themselves as Sleeping Soldiers. Has much changed today? The Savior would have to go it alone.

My thoughts then shifted to Calvary, at the point where Jesus was cruelly suspended before both accusers and future recipients of His mercy and grace. What happened? The very moment the totality of darkness attached itself to that precious body, God couldn't look. The Son no longer resembled a human, but was ravaged by the unimaginable and incomprehensible. At that juncture, Heaven had turned its back on the ugly scene. Not only had the disciples left Him, but the Father's Presence also departed. His holiness could not dwell with the sin that had been placed on Jesus. I can't begin to appreciate the agony of that event.

In this world, we do have persecution for the Word's sake, are challenged to take up that proverbial cross and follow the One Who loves us best. People, yes, sometimes those closest to us, jump ship, tuck tail and run. We're not understood or appreciated. Without the Holy Spirit, there cannot be a satiation of our hunger for fellowship and love. You and I will never be left or abandoned by Heaven. Why is that a fact? Because Jesus fully paid the price, guaranteeing the Spirit's ongoing fellowship and faithfulness. He had been despised and rejected, so we wouldn't have to be left without comfort and guidance, The Savior's broken heart and penalty of abandonment turned our captivity in that realm. God's response to the Church? "I shall neither leave nor forsake you!" Not for a second will the Kids ever be acquainted with what the Crucified One assumed. You and I are presently entitled to enter into the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, while boldly approaching the Throne of Grace. The Believer can enter Dad's space, love and reason with Him. He forever lives for the Bride and isn't beyond that. The Church is the focus of Glory's attention.

When my earthly father passed away, it was surely one of the most trying days of my life. I needed a word from above. Heaven was faithful in that regard. While standing over Dad's lifeless earth suit, I couldn't help but listen to the numerous responses of those visiting the funeral home. Comments varied. Some were helpful, but most made my stomach turn.

"Doesn't he appear at peace?" That one seemed kind of strange and out of place to me.

Some exclaimed, "It doesn't look like him!" If they were in that box, I'm confident others might have had the same reaction and assessment of them.

Two dear friends entered the viewing room, not to mention the fellowship of my suffering. One was the former Treasurer for the State of Maine. This is how well they represented the Father's heart and touched mine. Wrapping their arms around me, one compassionately said, "This hurts, doesn't it, Paul?" That resonated. My pain was acknowledged. We sat together. Not much was said. Their very presence was enough to ameliorate a whole lot of torment. Unlike Jesus in Gethsemene's Garden, I wasn't alone and without comfort. That's precisely what God is calling us to in this world...obedience, availability and sensitivity.

The Holy Spirit has more to share, as the Body's Comforter. Let's permit Him access.

Enemies Seen No More!

"Think it not strange concerning the fiery trial of your faith, as prior regions of weakness and attack will become future areas of anointing and strength. Has it not been written that tears will be turned into joy, and former enemies are to be seen no more? Additionally, you will be like that one who dreams in these marvelous days of My Spirit. All areas of concern and every negativity, which has broken your heart must yield to the anointing. Satan's antics in the Believer's life may well be the answer to the question, 'How dumb can one get?' Understand this! The adversary isn't in the Christian's future, since, if that were so, he'd have to be operating within truth and the realm of Glory's Spirit. All he can do is bluff and work through current circumstances and associated perceptions. Keeping the Children within logic and reason's arena is what hell is all about. Fear not! Jesus, having gone before the Army to prepare the way and make those crooked places straight, is in your future. You can surely trust Him through that Inner-Voice. Giving a stone for a loaf of bread would be impossible with Me. Was the Savior ever fooled? Did He miss the mark? No! Everything the Master heard was pristine truth, possessing the Power necessary for bringing itself to pass. By acknowledging the Father in all of the Redeemer's ways, were errors made? The answer remains obvious. Darkness was vitally plundered before the eyes of thousands, while the Teacher placed full confidence in each Throne Room encounter, the Holy Spirit's fellowship. Are the Son's enemies issuing threats and perpetuating danger in His direction? Do previous foes impede Heaven's unprecedented plan of covering this planet with the unparalleled, yet-to-be-seen miraculous? If the Bible and inherent Covenant could have been eradicated over the past two-thousand years, it would have been. Satan will forever fail with the Body of Christ. A defeated being can't win a war. Know that! Your Creator is watching over His Word to perform each promise. Never minimize what some might deem as baby steps in obedience and yieldedness to those nudgings and promptings, because each act of your free moral agency positions the obedient one step closer to destiny. Little is much when God is in it! Let Me provide a relevant example. If Heaven were to say, 'Transport a trash can from one location to another,' the journey would likely be one of the most glorious you've ever made! Despise not the day of small things. Of profound significance is a knowledge of the fact that the Father, mindful of the end from the beginning, has your promotion and heart in mind. Along that path are manifestations and a materialization of sustained desires, dreams and visions. Contemplate this! I've waited thousands of years for specific prophetic utterances to become flesh. Nevertheless, they contain the same certainty and accuracy of content as the day each was birthed in the spirit realm. Waiting has been difficult on humanity. Unless one walks in Me, a loss of expectancy and excitement ensues, followed by fainting, or giving up. When the Bride is willing to stand forever and a day, the wait won't be long. Like a hen protecting her young, I, too, will never take My eyes off that which has been spoken and unveiled. Time is Our friend. Use it in bringing Heaven to earth. We are in this together!"
