From the Desk of Doctor Paul ...'"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.'" Psalm 46:10
"This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: 'In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength...'" Isaiah 30:15
"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death...even death on the cross!" Philippians 2:5-8
During the early days of ministry, our Board determined that a computer system would be beneficial to this work's everyday operational mode and international outreach. In discussing the possibility of securing one, several pertinent selling points assisted me in making an affirmative decision. Most importantly, the investment would allow us to perform many tasks, from printing newsletters, to keeping track of financial records.
After placing a call to a fairly well known New England company, and paying over seventeen-thousand dollars for components that would sell today for less than a thousand, I remember anxiously awaiting the computer's arrival. It was weeks, before a moving van made its trip to Maine and dropped off several large boxes, which easily filled one of the foundation's rooms. The computer was here!
An office colleague insisted that we were not to touch anything, until the manual, a book that would literally put Sears catalog to shame, was totally read by him. In my mind, this Harvard graduate and former professor should have been able to complete the self-imposed assignment within a day. Then we'd be up and running. I was clearly fooling myself, as it was weeks before anything sensible came out of the product. In fact, a technician had to be flown in from out of state to assist in our efforts to make the computer work, not to mention justify the purchase. A sidenote here: We later found out that a much improved, smaller unit would be available within a year, at one-third the original cost.
Personally, I despised the system and resented my decision, almost from the beginning. Frankly, that computer did little for us. In the end, this Ministry donated the machine to a Christian broadcasting firm. May the Lord be with them!
Years have passed since that experience. Today, this Clinic owns several laptops, all of which are wireless, interconnected and user friendly. I took it upon myself to face fears and actually become acquainted with the varied functions and operational aspects of each machine. The addition has been a marvelous blessing to our work and me personally. With the Internet's existence and availability, the ends of this earth are reachable, and we are taking full advantage of what the hardware offers. In fact, when doing a network program, its possible for the system's user to "be there" for my telecast. All of this is absolutely amazing and sometimes unfathomable in the minds of most humans. Knowledge, wisdom and the ability to use Godly attributes are certainly increasing in these days of the Spirit.
A short while ago, the Revelator introduced some parallels to me, relative to a computer and the Christian's walk. Let me share some of them.
Without reading the manual, it's possible to get considerable use out of the gear. Yet, sooner or later, trouble will surface, leading the owner to a likely misplaced instruction book or a local technician.
Along the way, one usually becomes proactive and learns to run certain routine tasks, which will facilitate better and longer use of the gear. Left to itself, without reasonable maintenance, programs will slow down, lock up and finally crash.
This is what the Lord had to say in suggesting analogies between my laptop and the human soul, which incorporates the mind, will, intellect, emotions, dreams and visions. The effectiveness of a Christian's fellowship, walk and ministry will be determined by ongoing repentance, or midcourse corrections in posture and attitude. Yes, we can learn from a computer, as the concept was originally birthed through the Creator's mind; and man possesses many similarities.
In this day and age, owning a system, without installing an antivirus program, would surely be foolhardy, since cyber contaminants can attach themselves to email, downloads and visited web sites, while entering one's hard drive without warning. Sadly, there are people in this world who actually spend their day, contemplating new ways of sabotaging this mode of communication. Aside from passive-aggressive anger, it's difficult to understand why anyone would think in that direction.
How does this apply to the Word, the ministry, and our lives? Quite simply, the Spirit of God resides on the inside of the Family, to quicken Covenant...Heaven's antivirus response to the curse of the law, from which we've been redeemed. You and I are to be legal experts, when it comes to the Body's rights and privileges in the Kingdom.
My laptops also enjoy a "firewall," the purpose of which is to keep intruders out, those who might desire entrance through the rear door of the Clinic's network, where confidential patient files and other important data are stored. The Church also has a "Firewall," identified as the ignition of God's Glory, those dutiful angels He's positioned around the Children, the precious Holy Spirit Who grants discernment and guidance, and, more importantly, the Blood of the Lamb, creation's most potent protection. Evil can't possibly penetrate that wall!
Most systems encourage the user to regularly defragment, a procedure that pulls files and bits of information together, thereby decongesting and speeding up the operational capacity of the computer, while making room for more data. The Church is challenged to unite in like fashion. We have been directed to eliminate tradition and all impeding the Spirit's plan for the greatest pending Outpouring of the miraculous ever witnessed to date.
Instructional booklets mandate that we "scan disk." In others words, the various drives can be internally checked for foreign impressions. If an "enemy" file is discovered, the program will expediently eliminate the problem. You and I are to examine our hearts, determine evil ways, and repent with the Revelator's assistance and Power. Without Him, sin will direct our lives. He remains Glory's Deliverer of Covenant, signs, wonders and miracles. The Agent of Change transforms the Bride in thought, deed, action, appearance and outcome. Never forget this fact. The arm of flesh will resoundingly fail us. Becoming like Him can never happen by might or power, but via the Holy Spirit!
"Precious Child, more will be said about this later. However, I want to offer
a prelude about the finished work of the Master. Many have viewed 'The
Passion Of The Christ.' Let there be no mistake about it. I, Personally, directed
that production. Why was the movie open ended? The answer to that question
involves My desire to individually and Personally speak to, and convict, each
viewer. For some, that means salvation of the soul, physical and emotional
healings, hope...the blueprint of faith, vision, challenge, a small glimpse of
reality, a contemporization of the Gospel's reality and relevance. What its audience
witnesses is as close as anyone can get to an unveiling of those painful, yet
crucial hours. Hollywood would never be able to accurately portray the
one-time assimilation of sin, sickness, torment, poverty... past, present, future,
along with all inherent within the fall of man and curse of the law, that place
where the Savior didn't resemble the form of a human, due to an abundance of
iniquity and the severity of its associated penalty. Oh, how disdainful and
troubling that torture was to Heaven! Some would question, 'Why did Jesus' agony
have to last so long?' Know this! We are talking about a penalty here, one
which could only be paid through suffering and sinless Blood. No man could take
the Redeemer's life. He chose to lay it down, one blow at a time, nail by
nail, shred by shred, for His Sheep. Each fall and wound exclaimed...'It's not
enough! Keep on going. More! The bill isn't paid until Heaven releases My
spirit.' Every drop of Blood had to be shed, from beginning until end, with a
significance that will be intricately revealed in upcoming days. The sequential
unfolding could have been stopped at any time. The Savior was in full control. Yet,
He was obedient unto death. When did it end? At what point was enough,
enough? Remember those hell-shaking words on Calvary's cross? 'It is finished!"
marked the end of sin's penalty phase. From that juncture, resurrection was the
culmination of Heaven's focus. As He is, Beloved, you have become in this world.
Be still and know! In quietness and confidence will your strength be
fortified. Yield that soul to the Mind of Christ, as the Spirit of Truth clears and
cleans your Computer, making room for the new, while pushing out the old.
There's no place for negativity, but strictly a positive repentance, part of which
incorporates total refusal to be victimized any longer by the enemy's wiles or
the agendas of men. It's not solely what the Youngster gets out of the Word,
but what the Word gets out of the reader. The gates of hell cannot prevail
against those choosing to vitally walk in the Light of Covenant. Listen to your
heart. Repent of all that's revealed. In the natural, one could never be
fruitful in that transition. The Holy Spirit does the work, as yieldedness gives way
to formation, recreation and renewal, in preparation for a torrential Flood of
the Supernatural, as I fill planet earth with a knowledge of Glory!"
